Southern Lakes Helicopters operates in accordance with Civil Aviation Rules and our approved Safety Management System. We foster a strong safety culture where staff actively participate and contribute towards risk and hazard management, learning opportunities and continue to maintain best practice. 

 

 

Telarc

We undergo annual audits with Telarc to ensure ongoing compliance with ISO 9001 & 8156 to ensure compliance and an ongoing commitment to the health and safety of our employees, clinical crew and patients. 

Pilots and crew

Employing the best to fly in Fiordland.  We handpick our pilots based on their sound judgment, decision-making, extensive knowledge of Fiordland and Aoraki Mount Cook, and a diverse set of skills, which are equally important as being experienced and capable pilots.  

This is important to us for the safety of our daily operations and search-and-rescue taskings. We are committed to maintaining a strong relationship with our highly experienced doctors, nurses and paramedics as well as the Fiordland Marine Search & Rescue team and LandSAR.

As an industry leader

We strive to maintain best practices and make safety improvements as part of our learnings.

Currently we are undertaking project work to support improved weather monitoring observations, and development of educational resources for the aviation industry as part of an enforced undertaking with the CAA.
