Terms and Conditions

Please read these terms and conditions before completing your booking. By making a booking with Southern Lakes Helicopters you agree to the terms and conditions below.  

  1. Your Flight

    All scenic flights listed are shared with others. If you want an exclusive experience, talk to us about our private charter flights. 

    All scenic flights have minimum fare-paying passenger numbers required for flights to depart.    

    We will accept bookings for less than the required minimum and will try our best to coordinate bookings to achieve the required minimum for the flight to depart, but this cannot be guaranteed.  

    To avoid uncertainty or disappointment, ask us about our private charter flights. 

    You can change your flight date or time by contacting us more than 48 hours before your scheduled departure.

  2. Booking information

    Credit card details

    Your credit card details are required at the time of booking to secure your booking.  

    We accept all popular payment methods such as Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Diners Discover, JCB and UnionPay International. 

    By giving us your credit card details you agree to us taking full payment from your credit card if you don’t show up for your flight and haven’t contacted us prior to this time (see cancellation and refund information below).

  3. Weather

    Safety is always our first priority and all flights are subject to weather conditions on the day. If we can’t fly at the time you booked due to weather conditions, we will do our best to re-schedule your flight. If a reschedule is not possible, we will refund any payment made towards the flight. 

  4. Check-In

    Please arrive 30 minutes before your flight so we can check passenger details and give you a safety briefing. 

    Safety is our first priority.  When you book we will ask for each passenger’s weight (and we will confirm this when you check in)., This is  so that we can ensure the weight and balance of the aircraft are within safety requirements.

  5. Prices and GST

    All prices are in New Zealand dollars and include 15% goods and services tax (GST). Any currency conversion charges your credit card issuer applies are your responsibility. 

    We do our best to ensure all prices are accurate. If an error does occur and a price is shown incorrectly, we’ll let you know right away. In that unlikely event, we may need to withdraw your booking and reissue it at the correct price. Any such situations will be handled fairly and at our discretion. 

  6. Payment

    We accept all major credit cards, Eftpos, PayPal or direct banking. Payments can be made by direct credit/internet banking at least two days before the date of travel. Please use the invoice number as the reference number.  

  7. Cancellation and refund policy

    Scenic Flights – If your cancellation is due to unforeseen circumstances and:

    More than 48 hours notice is given, no payment will be taken from your card
    Less than 48 hours notice is given, a 50% payment will be taken from your card. 
    If no notice is given and you do not show up for your flight, 100% payment will be taken from your card.

    Private charter/group bookings – We require a 20% deposit to confirm a charter or group booking.  This deposit goes towards the final cost of your booking – it’s not an extra fee.  All deposits are non refundable from the time of payment unless a flight is cancelled due to weather conditions.  If you cancel a booking within seven days of departure the full fare is still payable.   

  8. New Zealand Applicable Law

    This contract is deemed to be made in New Zealand and the law of New Zealand, and of no other country, will apply to all issues relating to the contract or arising out of the contract. 

  9. Privacy Policy

    Any personal information supplied to us will only be used to process your booking/order. We do not share your information with any third parties, and your information is protected through secure systems.
