Lord of the Rings

Follow the mighty Upper Waiau River (River Anduin) flowing from Lake Te Anau to Lake Manapouri. Part way down the River Anduin we reach the Brown Lands, the desolate and treeless area between Mirkwood and the Emyn Mull where the Ent Wives made their gardens. Passing through the Hurricane Passage you ascend to Middle Earth south of Rivendell where we land and give you time to take in the magnificence of the Norwest Lakes looking out across Lake Manapouri.

Fantastic Fiordland

Leave the views of Te Anau and Lake Manapouri behind as we climb the beech forested slopes of the Cathedral Peaks to the apex of the Kepler Mountains. A high alpine landing is made for breathtaking views and photo shots of Doubtful Sound as a backdrop. On your return journey we overfly the Norwest Lakes with the deep glacial valley and rugged granite rock resembling Middle Earth. Doubtful Sound

Views of the Iris Burn Valley and the Lake of Many Islands, known as Lake Manapouri is revealed. You have a bird’s eye view of the West Arm Power Station before climbing over the Wilmot Pass into Doubtful Sound. If the weather is suitable we detour into Campbell’s Kingdom, a beautiful hanging valley complete with its own lake and waterfall. Airborne again, you will glimpse Bradshaw Sound before overflying the Main Divide of the Southern Alps to Mt Kidd for a second remote landing before returning to the Helipad.

Milford Sound

Departing the Lakefront Helipad we follow the shores of Lake Te Anau to make our first landing at Mt Skelmorlie. This is a picturesque area that looks down on the Milford Track and Clinton Valley. Airborne again we overfly the remote Wick Mountains and rugged landscape such as Lake Iceburg, so called because it grows Iceburgs! Views of Mitre Peak and Milford Sound unfold as we circuit around the fiord to follow the Milford Track, flying over the McKinnon Pass before landing at the Sutherland Falls. Returning to Te Anau is a descent back to reality.

Dusky & Doubtful Sound

The Triple Buzz Heli-Hike

If you enjoy walking then this alpine & bush hike will be a highlight. A short helicopter flight to Luxmore Hut is your starting point. Take time to enjoy the alpine views and flora, climb to the summit or explore the limestone caves before descending the mountain.
