Heli - hiking

Our Heli Hiking packages offer unique opportunities to walk amongst natural and spectacular scenery at Mt Nicholas Station.  Mt Nicholas is a 100,000 acre, privately owned, high country station located midway between Queenstown and Glenorchy. This gives you the chance to walk in a quiet, alpine location - without the crowds!  We will fly you to Mt Nicholas Station where you will be met by your guide for the day.  All hikes can be customised to suit the fitness levels of individuals or groups.

HALF DAY HIKE
Helicopter transfer from our Lakefront Helipad in Te Anau to Mt Nicholas Station where you will meet your guide and proceed to one of the spectacular valleys.  Here you will enjoy a country style picnic lunch before beginning the hike back to Lake Wakatipu lakefront for the helicopter pick up and your return to Te Anau (or Queenstown).
DURATION  3 - 4  HOURS

FULL DAY HIKE
As above, but travel further back into the high country and enjoy a full day hike, stopping for lunch along the way.
DURATION  6 - 8 HOURS

OVERNIGHT AT MUSTERERS HUT
Helicopter transfer from Te Anau to the North Von Musterers hut where you will spend the night, enjoying a delicious evening meal and hearty breakfast the next morning. The peace and tranquility of this valley is a real 'Escape to the Country". The hike back combines both up and down hill sections with great views of the ever changing terrain. Duration of this hike is approximately 4 hours and does require a good level of fitness.

OVERNIGHT AT MT NICHOLAS LODGE
Helicopter transfer to Mt Nicholas Station and enjoy a hike to suit your personal requirements.  On your return to the lakefront you will enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at Mt Nicholas Lodge. Following breakfast the next morning the helicopter will return to take you back to Te Anau or to Queenstown, arriving there around mid-day.

During your time at Mt Nicholas Station there are other activities we can arrange for you - such as:

For all hiking options a sturdy pair of tramping boots is required, together with a wind proof jacket and suitable clothing.
For the 'Overnight at The Musterer's Hut option a light back pack with a change of clothing is recommended and for the Overnight at 'Mt Nicholas Lodge' option a change of clothing suitable for an evening at the Lodge is recommended.
