Southern Lakes Helicopters
Richard "Hannibal" Hayes, a pioneer in the Fiordland Region and highly skilled long time operator on venison recovery, formed Southern Lakes Helicopters in 1982. In 2000, Richard and Carol formed the sister company Heliworks Queenstown Helicopters to meet the demand for services from Queenstown.
The Civil Aviation Authority issued licenses to Southern Lakes Helicopters to undertake all forms of air transport operations.
Southern Lakes Helicopters CAA Licence Number: 12996 The companies are members of the Aviation Industry Association and hold licenses and permits to operate in Fiordland National Park and Conservation areas of Fiordland, Southland, Otago and Mt Aspiring National Park.
With a fleet of helicopters, including Squirrel Helicopters and R44 Raven Helicopters, Southern Lakes Helicopters offer an extensive range of professional helicopter services from high altitude operations, scenic flights through to tailored hunting and fishing expeditions.
Based at the doorstep of breathtaking and magnificent Fiordland World Heritage Park, the office of Southern Lakes Helicopters is located on the lakefront in Te Anau.
